Person of Interest focus of More Cookie Jar Capers!

Usher: Hey Deak, Just what is “a person of interest”?

Deacon: The diocese protects them and now the FBI is covering for them!  Can’t they just come out and say “criminal”?

Usher: Evidently not.  I think we just need to come out and admit that certain denominations seem to have total immunity from prosecution.   Priests steal tens of thousands and still serve Mass.  You or me, 20 years in Attica!

FRONTENAC, Kan. — Authorities executing a search warrant Thursday seized financial documents and business records in connection with an investigation into allegations of misuse of church funds by an individual other than the priest, Crawford County Sheriff Sandy Horton said Friday.

Members of the Sheriff’s Department, the Kansas Bureau of Investigations and the FBI served the warrant at the business office of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 100 S. Cherokee St., in Frontenac, Horton said.

No one is expected to be taken into custody yet, but Horton said the investigation points to thousands of dollars in church funds being misused.

“We’re talking tens of thousands of dollars at this point,” the sheriff said. “We want parishioners and the community to know that there are serious financial problems that need to be addressed.”  Read entire story

Now there’s a line worth investigating. I wonder if we have similar laws in Australia about misuse of church funds. The trouble is I guess, churches are considered private organisations, even though they get tax breaks. Our ‘church’ (read..cult) had its own bible school which wasn’t a bible school, but because they SAID it was a bible school and made it LOOK like a bible school, they got government money to build the buildings which HOUSED the bible school. Bingo. What a rort! THEN they make the congregation do all the building maintenance under the guise of ‘service to God’.
