Usher: Deak, this guy hasn't a clue on the true history of the church.

Deacon: Yeah, I know. Just one of the sheep who thinks his pastor has his best interests in mind.

Usher: Oh how naive!

Please, for the sake of yourself and the church, reconsider your heart's attitutde towards leadership through the following scriptures.

Ephesians 4:11It was he [Christ] who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up...

Hebrews 13:17Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.

1Tim 5:17The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching. 18For the Scripture says, "Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain,"[b] and "The worker deserves his wages."[c] 19Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses. 20Those who sin are to be rebuked publicly, so that the others may take warning.

1Tim 6:3If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, 4 he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, 5and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain.

1Tim 2:1I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— 2for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

Church leaders aren't perfect; They hope for your support and your prayers for your own sake.

Pastor Cymbala has included Roberta Langella's story in his books and videos for years, all of which were bestsellers and have brought in millions of dollars to the church. Yet, when Roberta was working tirelessly for the homeless ministry in the midst of her physical limitations, she was abruptly told that the homeless ministry was being dismantled, and that the small stipend that Roberta received (she has been on disability for years) was also taken away. She was forced to apply for food stamps, and stood on line for several hours with a 103 fever. She was in a nursing home for over six months, and came close to death several times, and yet Pastor Cymbala visited her once during that entire time. When she was finally released from the nursing home, she was 80 lbs. and very weak, and NO ONE from the Brooklyn Tab ever came to see her or help her. Yet, the church STAFF had to go and shovel Pastor Toledo and Pastor Cymbalas snow at their homes; yet Roberta was left to fend for herself, while barely being able to function due to her severe illness. But whenever a good story is needed for the next book, Pastor Cymbala seems to reconnect with Roberta to get information for his next sensation to sell his books. Our family begged him to help Roberta during the writing of his last book, as she was severely depressed and in dire need of spiritual help. Pastor Cymbala did nothing to help her, and when our family found out about the story that he was including in his book about Roberta, we met with him and told him we did not want the story included because it was an absolute false representation of her true spiritual, emotional and mental condition, and she couldn't handle the burden of trying to live up to the fabricated image Pastor Cymbala portrayed of her in his book. Pastor Cymbala was well aware of her condition while writing the book, but chose to publish it anyway, because the truth wouldn't be a very good testimony for the sale of his book. He promised our family that the story would be removed from the book after the first printing, and that he had confirmed it with Zondervan. Well, Roberta's false story is still in the book, and Pastor Cymbala has cut off all communication with the Langella family because we dared to confront him with the truth, a truth that was a huge inconvenience to both he and Zondervan Publishing. While Roberta struggles financially on disability and struggles with her health, Pastor Cymbala rakes in millions of dollars from stories like Roberta's, lives in a multi-million dollar home, has a million dollar vacation home in Fla., and refuses to disclose financial statements to tithing members of the church. His own children have done horrendous things to members of the church they pastor in Chicago, and Pastor Cymbala goes to great lengths to cover up the sins of his son-in-law, who pastors the Chicago Tabernacle, and is a spiritually abusive bully who slanders, threatens and intimidates church members. Both churches operate in an environment of fear and intimidation, and it is a classic example of absolute power corrupting absolutely. Every word posted here is the truth, and there are dozens of similar incidences, but I am only speaking of those that are of my personal experience with this church. It is not surprising that people are questioning the soundness of the doctrines that Pastor Cymbala preaches when his very character and actions are a complete contradiction to the teachings of Christ. This man needs a lot of prayer, because he has sold out for self-profit and promoting the BT image, regardless of the cost to the lives he writes about. He cared more about the sale of his book than the dire condition of a woman who served at that church for almost 20 years. Of course, there is no more communication with her, because she is of no further use to him

Thought you might find this interesting from Leviticus 11:13-14 concerning dietary restrictions for the Jews:

“‘These you are to detest from among the birds – they must not be eaten, because they are detestable: the griffon vulture, the bearded vulture, the black vulture, the kite, the buzzard of any kind,...

We can't eat you. Y'all have protected status (though you are thought to be detestable). The Bible says so.

Deacon and Usher,
Great post!

Sigh...sadly, most congregations have fallen into the System's structure, which is absolutely, based on a corporate business model. Hierarchy abounds. This only stiffles attendees (consumers, customers) relationship with Papa Jesus Holy Spirit.

My heart and prayer is that those "plugged into" this System (The Matrix) will open their eyes to see how it is hurting their relationship with God, come out of it, and begin experiencing what I believe, is a Life and Journey with God that He always wanted with His children.

Blessings,
~Amy :)

Usher: Hey Deak, another person who denies the real reason churches take people form money!

Deacon: Doesn't she know that Christ threw people like we have in the church today out of the temple for doing wrong things in the name of Christ?

Usher: She actually believes that anything that is not in accord with what she perceives to be "truth" must fall into the category of negative! What if Christ came down and revealed to her that 99% of everything she was taught was wrong? Then everything she thinks is negative would be positive!

Deacon: That's why the church continues to deceive. If you speak against the status quo, you're a malcontent, a disgruntled one who sows discord.

Usher: Such a sorry way to be. Don't speak up even if it's wrong. I think that's why the humans are in such trouble with the economy. They deny that anything is wrong until it's too late and then they all pay the price of a few greedy and opportunistic manipulative crooks......and some of them are truly preachers and pastors!

After reading all these posts blogged, it saddened me to know that mature christians would have the time to write so negatively about a church, let alone a pastor. Even if you feel that you are speaking the truth, think about the many people who will read these blogs, including non-believers. How are we suppose to preach that "God is Love'' when nothing but negativity is being said? I have learned to do all my talking to my God because he is the only one that can change and fix any and all situations. One day we all have to give account to God for our actions and reactions , including causing someone to fall or turn away from the Lord. As christians let's do things differently, let's speak positive things and give God the things that hurt us, you will see how God will turn things around. I love my church, I love my christian brothers and sisters, I love my pastors and I know that they are not perfect. None of us are, but that's why we have to keep our leadership in prayer. Imagine if Christ came down and broadcasted all our flaws, exposed every thing we did, wow, how do you think your friends would see you then? People lets grow up and just leave all situations to God-He has everything in control and he alone will fix whatever sitaution we are asking him to fix. Let's keep in mind that many non believers are always looking for an excuse not to believe in the Lord, let's not give them another excuse or reason to continue to look away. Let's give them
"Jesus"
In Christ

As christians let’s do things differently, let’s speak positive things and give God the things that hurt us, you will see how God will turn things around. I love my church, I love my christian brothers and sisters, I love my pastors and I know that they are not perfect. None of us are, but that’s why we have to keep our leadership in prayer. Imagine if Christ came down and broadcasted all our flaws, exposed every thing we did, wow, how do you think your friends would see you then? People lets grow up and just leave all situations to God-He has everything in control and he alone will fix whatever sitaution we are asking him to fix. Let’s keep in mind that many non believers are always looking for an excuse not to believe in the Lord, let’s not give them another excuse or reason to continue to look away. Let’s give them
“Jesus”
In Christ

So are you buzzards saying that you actually believe that some people will be saved, simply because that's how they've been "hard-wired"? While I agree that it's not God's intention for us to put all this pressure on ourselves to "save the world", saving the world is His perogative.... Do you really believe that God is simply picking some people at random to belong to Him, while all the rest He chooses to exclude? Such an idea is nothing close to what the bible means when it speaks of predestination...

Deacon and Usher,
Excellent such truthful post here! Indeed, I just sigh and my heart feels (justifiably) frustrated and saddened by how many have chosen the greedy life of stealing from the government and taxpayers (bailout) and in doing so, have deeply hurt and burdened future generations by incurring more debt. All Systems, institutions...the Machines of this world are simply run by a spirit oppositional to Father Son Holy Spirit.

The Truth is that the Machine will destroy itself from the inside out.

Yet, what enables me to live and walk a divine Peace is simply because of God's Love. I know that what happens around me cannot take that which is most important in life: relationship with God now and eternal. My Hope lies in Him. He has already won, and we will see the full/complete manifestation of His Victory in the physical someday when the Earth is purified from all Sin and injustice.

Until then, my heart prays for those who are buying into the deception and those who are doing the deceiving. Father can redeem them...if they choose to humble themselves and "see" His Gift.

Great post. Again, I always love your humor within such good Truth.

Blessings,
~Amy :)

I am a memeber of BT since 1984, and I feel so much pain when I see the stuff on the board. I know steven and his wife very well. I love them, two open, real people I have met there.

I give alot of my money at BT and I pray that all this mess I am reading about is not true. As believers let us talk about the real issues in love, forgive and move on. Let us begin to fast and pray for each other and the Pastors. I know that no one can play church and get away with it.
